Penn State Harrisburg Cruises Past Frostburg For Second Straight Win

Frostburg, Md.- Wednesday February 3rd, tonight the Penn State Harrisburg women's basketball team faced fellow Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) opponent, Frostburg State for the second time this season. The women led from beginning to end and secured their second straight win, 70-59.

Senior Kiara Carter (Bronx, N.Y / Milton Hershey) accounted for the Lady Lions first six points. Carter hit three straight layups to give Harrisburg a 6-0 lead to start off the game. The Bobcats tried to get on the board throughout the first quarter but the Lions continued to dominate offensively. As the second quarter got underway, Kaitlyn Carmo (Palmyra, Pa. / Palmyra Area) sank her first jumper of the quarter to extend Harrisburg's lead to 11 points. Frostburg State came up with seven straight points of their own to try and slow the Lions down. Becca Bailey (Tobyhanna, Pa. / Notre Dame East Stroudsburg) added five points to the board for Harrisburg to cruise in to halftime with a seven-point lead, 33-26.
 
The Lions continued to light up the score board throughout the opening minutes of the third quarter. Jasmine Yanich (Harrisburg, Pa. / Susquehanna Township) hit her second three pointer of the day to give Harrisburg their biggest lead of the game, 44-31. The home team responded with seven straight baskets in an attempt to tie the game. Harrisburg stayed strong defensively for the remainder of the quarter. Carmo continued to lead the Lions offensively with six of the teams 18 points in the final quarter. Overall, Carmo led the team with 15 points and four rebounds. Carter added 12 of her own points to the board along with 10 rebounds.
 

Penn State Harrisburg will look to get their third straight win on Saturday against Southern Virginia. Tip-off is at 1 pm.
