Lions Fall to Marymount (Va.)

Arlington, Va.- Wednesday January 13, this evening the Penn State Harrisburg women's basketball team hit the road to take on Marymount (Va.). The women battled the Saints throughout the first quarter. The home team went on to lead Harrisburg for the rest of the game and win 77-41. 

Marymount got an early lead on the Lions within the first few minutes of the first quarter. Sophomore Janel Brown (Gaithersburg, Md. / Magruder) stepped up and hit a three to put Harrisburg only four behind the Saints. Just a few seconds later, Aireo Payned (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin) battled through the key to make her first layup of the night. As the first quarter was coming to a close, Kaitlyn Carmo (Palmyra, Pa. / Palmyra Area) brought Harrisburg only three points behind Marymount with a three pointer. Harrisburg was only able to score seven points in the second quarter off of free throws. Marymount led 37-20 at the half. 

The second half proved to be very difficult for the Lions. The women struggled to get on the board due to turnovers and Marymount who played very well defensively. Carmo led for Harrisburg with 11 points and two rebounds. 

The Lions will look to get a win on Saturday against St. Mary's (Md.) Harrisburg will host St. Mary's for a 1 pm start.
