Saints Top Penn State Harrisburg at Home

Arlington, Va. – After losing to the Marymount Saints just three weeks ago, the Lady Lions of Penn State Harrisburg looked to get revenge over one of the top seeds in the Capital Athletic Conference Wednesday evening.  Unfortunately, the Saints lived up to their record and the Blue and White were not able to steal one on the road as they lost 63-40.

The Lions started the game strong, battling the Saints point for point in the first ten minutes of the game.  The Saints picked it up in the second portion of the first half attacking the rim and converting from the free throw line.  Marymount closed the half on an 18-8 run to take a comfortable 31-16 lead into the halftime break.

The second half started much like the first half ended for the Saints.  Every time Harrisburg would make a run or come up with a huge basket, Marymount would answer with one of their own.  The deficit the Blue and White fell into in the first half was just too much to get out of in the second twenty minutes of play.  Marymount hit shots when they needed to and got to the charity stripe 21 more times than the visiting Lions, which in turn had a large influence on the outcome of Wednesday's contest.

Leading the way for Harrisburg was junior Kiara Carter (Bronx, NY. / Milton Hershey) who continues to dominate the paint.  Carter claimed another double-double, scoring 14 points and pulling down 11 rebounds.  Sophomore Kaitlyn Carmo (Palmyra, Pa / Palmyra Area) contributed with 9 points and 3 assists.

Penn State Harrisburg stays on the road this weekend as they travel to Mary Washington Saturday February 14th when they tip-off against the Eagles at 1pm.
