Lions Stumble on Road to Salisbury

Salisbury, Md. – The Penn State Harrisburg women's basketball team struggled on the road against the Capital Athletic Conference preseason favorite Salisbury University Saturday December 6th.  The Lions fell 89-42, which evens their conference record to 1-1.

Harrisburg fell behind early after the Seagull's started the game on an extremely impressive 32-2 run over the first 13 minutes of action. The Lions slowly stopped the bleeding and were able to start finding the net as the half came to a close.

Unfortunately starting the second half down 49-17, while also being on the road was not the position the Lions had hoped to be in prior to tip-off.  The Blue and White kept things tighter in the second half, but finished the game down 89-42.

Kiara Carter (Bronx, NY. / Milton Hershey) was one bright spot for Penn State Harrisburg.  Carter earned her second double-double of the season by scoring 10 points and grabbing 13 rebounds.  Kaitlyn Carmo (Palmyra, Pa / Palmyra Area) continued to lead the team in scoring by netting 13 in today's contest.

"Today our women's team saw what a pre-season number one picked team looks like on their home court. We had some good looks early that we didn't convert and got behind early, and you can't do that against a veteran team like Salisbury." Coach Patrick continued with, "however, I'm really proud of how our young team endured the challenge and we learned some great lessons throughout. Today was a tough loss, but we're learning, and those lessons will pay dividends as the season progresses!"

The Lions will return to action next Wednesday night when they travel to face the Frostburg St. Bobcats.
