Carter Earns CAC Honors

YORK, Pa. – On Monday afternoon, Dec. 2, the Capital Athletic Conference named Penn State Harrisburg women's basketball player Kiara Carter (Bronx, N.Y. / Milton Hershey) CAC Co-Student-Athlete of the Week for the time period ending Sunday, Dec. 1.

The sophomore was recognized for her career week that included the best performance of her collegiate tenure.  On Sunday, Dec. 1, the Milton Hershey grad led the ladies to a thrilling 84-78 double overtime victory over Penn State Altoona.  Against the opposing Lions, the forward recorded her third double-double of the young season, scoring a game-high 19 points, including netting the game-tying buzzer beater as time expired in the first overtime.  She also grabbed a career-best 21 rebounds, blocked two shots and swiped two steals. 

Five days earlier, Carter again led the team in scoring and rebounding.  Against Immaculata on Nov. 26, the New York native recorded another double-double to the tune of 14 points and ten boards.  She also blocked a shot and swiped another steal.

   

For the week, Carter averaged 16.5 points and 15.5 rebounds per game.  Most impressively, she did it while shooting 88.9 percent from the field.  She currently leads the team in rebounding with 10.5 boards per contest.  She's also racked up the Lions' highest field goal percentage (68.4) to this point in the season.  For the year, Carter is averaging 9.3 points, two blocks and a steal per outing.
