Middletown Pa. -  Amanda Moyer (Carlisle Pa./Cumberland Valley) hit the twenty point mark for the first time this season in an important conference and inter collegiate rivalry win Sunday against Penn State Abington.  

Harrisburg started the day in second place in the South with Abington just behind in third place and set the stage for a showdown to see who was going to be the leader of this pack of lions after 40 minutes of basketball.  

The game started off with plenty of good shooting from both teams.  Miranda Zeanchock (Carrolltown, Pa. / Cambria Heights) hit a 3 pointer with 13:34 to go in the half putting Harrisburg up 17-10.  At that point things were still pretty tight between the two lion squads, but over the next four minutes the visiting lions stretched their lead to 12 points.  

Abington answered back with a 7-0 run which tightened the score to 29-24 with 8:57 to go in the half.  At that point Harrisburg's started to push the tempo and gave themselves a little breathing room with a halftime score of 47-39.  

 The second half momentum shifted in Harrisburg's favor as an early 12-2 run seemed to put the game out of reach for the home squad.  Mercedes Copeland (Reading, Pa./ Reading) and Zeanchock both contributed to the team's success scoring 19 points each.  Mikhail Whitcomb (Trevorton, Pa. / Line Mountain) also added a season high 10 points coming off the bench.   

All this firepower would be too much for the Home team as Harrisburg finished the game comfortably at 89-72.  Moyer was definitely the standout today as she lead the team in both scoring and rebounds while setting her season high point total.  

 "Today was a great shooting day, especially from 3 point range... Our defense was very porous during the first half where we let them get into the lane and put them on the foul line way too often.  Said Coach Patrick following the game.  He continued with "however, in the second half, the girls brought up our defensive intensity while continuing to convert offensively at a high level.

The Lions travel Wednesday to play against Lancaster Bible and it is already on Patrick's mind. "Wednesday is a critical game that has major implications on who takes over sole possession of the south division, we are the defending champs so it is imperative that we bring that mindset when we walk in the gym at Lancaster Bible."
