Copeland Double-Double not enough to hold off the Storm

Kueka Park, NY - Penn State Harrisburg did not get the result they were hoping for today against conference foe Keuka College.  The Storm started from the tip off and lasted the entire 40 minutes of play on way to a 86-71 Keuka victory.

The Keuka Storm started the game off with an 8-0 run in the first 2:30 of the game.  They would be forced to work hard the entire half to keep the lead, but by halftime the lions were faced with their second game in a row being down at the half.

Down by nine with 17:33 to go in the game and a Keuka lead of 55-46, the Lions Mercedes Copeland (Reading, Pa/Reading) led the charge being helped thoroughly from Amanda Moyer (Carlisle, Pa/Cumberland Valley) ;who's three point shot put the Harrisburg bench on their feet the lead just out of reach as Harrisburg went on a 8-0 run of their own to put the game within a point at 55-54 with 14:48 to go in the game.

Keuka responded back with an 11-1 run over the next six minutes that would be too much for the lions to make up as the clock started to also work against them.

Despite the 86-71 loss, the Lions did have strong performances from plenty of the squad.  Copeland led the team with 24 points and 11 rebounds while Moyer ,having a strong night from behind the arc, scored 15 points.  Jasmine Yanich (Harrisburg, Pa/Susquehanna) performed well off the bench scoring 7 points and grabbing 6 rebounds in her 17 minutes.

Coach Patrick was still proud of his team despite their first two conference losses happening on the back to back road trip.  "Today we didn't get the outcome we were looking for, but we advancedin our maturity.  For the second consecutive day our girls showedtremendous heart and effort. So, as a coach I am elated with the unitywe has as a team and the positive experiences that are ahead for theseplayers!"

The Lady Lions will return home ready to get another winning streak going as the host Gallaudet University Wednesday night at 6:00.   Make sure to get there early since it is Foam Paw Giveaway Night!
