Harrisburg breaks winning streak due to Frostburg St Second Half Comeback

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – The lady lions have been on fire of late and came into tonight's game on a 4 game win streak.  The steak came to an end tonight as the scratching claws of the Frostburg St. Bobcats could not be clipped back and pushed through for a second half comeback win.

Our biggest fan.

The lions came out with a very strong first half that started with a 5-0 run in the first two minutes of the game.  The game stayed tight until about midway through the first half when Harrisburg went on a 10-2 run to take the lead 24-16 at the 8:31 mark in the first.  Five of the lady lion's points in this run came from Amanda Moyer (Carlisle, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) who finished second in scoring with 18 and led the team in rebounds with an impressive 14.

Harrisburg kept the game out of reach for most of the first half and had Frostburg St. on the ropes going up by 9 with under a minute to play.  A clutch 3 pointer by the Bobcats gave them a little momentum to head into the half with.

The second half was a different story for the lady lions.  The Bobcat's backcourt was tough to stop and gave Frostburg St. the energy and scoring they needed to get back into the game early in the half.  By the midpoint of the second half the lions had lost their lead and were down 4 points with 9:58 to go in the game.

Unfortunately an 8-0 run by Frostburg gave them a double digit lead with time winding down.  Not even the career high game and 22 points that Mercedes Copeland (Reading Pa / Reading) took with authority could keep things tight in the closing minutes.  The Bobcats made their free throws at the finish and ended the game with an 83-71 win.

The lions will travel to Penn State Altoona Friday night for their last game before the Holiday break.
