How It Happened
The Penn State Harrisburg softball team fell in a game one of their nonconference doubleheader against Wilson College.
The Lions struggled to get the offense going, despite a pair of hits from Kaylee DeMatteo. Starting pitcher Allison Hartman kept the Lions in the game, only allowing six hits during the course of the game. The Phoenix would take the lead in the second inning, scoring a run on a wild pitch.
Harrisburg's best opportunity to score came in the top of the sixth inning. Katie Humphrey would lead off the inning, reaching base on a field error by Wilson's second baseman. Sarah Coolbaugh converted on an infield single to put runners in scoring position. Later in the inning, Nina Bruno hit a line shot into center field, but the Phoenix's center fielder made an excellent catch preventing the Lions from getting on the scoreboard. Wilson would add an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth inning, putting the game out of the Lions reach.

How It Happened
The Lions game two match up with Wilson College ended in 7-7 tie due to darkness.
Wilson College took early control of the game, plating seven runs in the bottom of the second inning on eight hits, forcing starter Kaylee Simon from the game. Relief pitcher Mary-Kate Penczkowski quelled Wilson's momentum getting Harrisburg out of the jam.
The Lions offense would respond with a rally in the top of the third inning. Sierra Dixon led off the inning, reaching on an error by Wilson's pitcher. Katie Humphrey followed with a single to center field. Later in the inning, Allison Hartman singled over shortstop allowing two runs to score. After Carlee Gochenaur reached on an error, Delaney Nevius would double to left field, scoring Hartman. Kaylee DeMatteo kept the momentum going, blasting a double over the center fielders head, scoring two runs. Penczkowski would then single putting runners on the corners for Dixon. Dixon plated the Lions sixth run of the inning, with an infield single.
Both offenses slowed after their early outburst as Penczkowski allowed just three hits over the next four innings. Wilson College went back to game one starter Megan Potter in the fourth inning, and she would continue to frustrate the Lions batters.
Trailing by one entering the seventh inning, Nina Bruno came to the plate for the Lions. Bruno would smash a solo home run over the left field fence, tying the game at seven. The Lions would get a runner on base later in the inning, but could not capture the lead. With darkness quickly arriving, the Lions would turn to Allison Hartman to hold Wilson scoreless in the bottom of the seventh inning. The game would be called at the conclusion of the inning, with game ending in a tie.

- Nina Bruno blasted her third home run of the season, tying the game in the seventh inning

- Mary-Kate Penczkowski came on in relief of starter Kaylee Simon, holding the Phoenix scoreless for 4.1 innings, recording a pair of strikeouts
- Allison Hartman came on to secure the tie, pitching a scoreless seventh inning

The Lions will open Capital Athletic Conference play when they travel to Salisbury University at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
