Lions Softball Ready for First CAC Playoff Run

Middletown, Pa. - The Penn State Harrisburg women's softball team made history this year by reaching the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) playoffs for the first time. Harrisburg comes into the day as the sixth seed and will face the number one seed Christopher Newport and the Frostburg State.

Frostburg State swept Penn State Harrisburg on Monday to conclude the CAC softball regular season and finalize the matchups for the upcoming CAC Tournament, set to begin later this week. No. 1 Christopher Newport and No. 2 Salisbury will host a pair of three-team pods in Newport News and Salisbury on Apr. 27-28. 

In Newport News, Va., top-seeded Christopher Newport will welcome No. 4 Frostburg State and No. 6 Penn State Harrisburg to Captains Park. The Captains will take on the Lions in the first game of the double-elimination pod at noon on Friday. 

In Salisbury, Md., second-seeded Salisbury will host No. 3 York and No. 5 Mary Washington. The Sea Gulls will meet No. 5 Mary Washington in the opening game at noon on Friday. 

The winners of each of the pods will advance to a best-of-three championship series May 4-5 at the field of the highest remaining seed.
