Harrisburg, PA – Penn State Harrisburg Softball celebrated Senior Day by battled #4 Christopher Newport in CAC action, challenging the Captains in all phases of the game. Allison Hartman pitched game one for the Lions and after allowing three runs in the first inning, held the Captains to just one run the rest of the way.

How it Happened:
Before the game the Lions honored their three four-year seniors Kristen Evans, Emily Parmer, and Erelle Sowers who have all been major contributors to the Lion's growth during their time in the program.
The high power Captain's offense struck in the first inning building a 3-0 lead. The Lions would settle into the game, and use a combination of excellent defensive plays and solid pitching to hold the Captains to just seven hits in the rest of the game. Allison Hartman steadied the Lions in the circle, throwing constant strikes and putting the Lions defense in position to make outs. Katie Humphrey, Emily Parmer, and Kaylee Simon recorded a combined nine putouts in the outfield and robbed Christopher Newport of multiple base hits. The Lions would get runners on base in the third and seventh innings, but not could not move them around the bases.
Harrisburg continued to battle in game two behind freshman pitcher Kaylee Simon who made her first collegiate start. Simon would keep the game close allowing three runs in her first four inning of action thanks in part to more great defensive efforts. The Lions offense would threaten in the fourth inning, when Humphrey doubled down the left field line. Parmer would then move Humphrey to third, but the Lions were unable to convert. The Captains offense broke through in the fifth inning, putting the game out of reach for the Lions.
