How it Happened:

The Lions and Spartans found themselves in a pitcher's duel in game one of the double header. Allison Hartman dominated on the mound for the Lions holding the Spartans scoreless through regulation. On the game Hartman would record eight strikeouts and only allow three hits. The Lions offense; however, struggled to find an answer to the Spartans pitching. Their first true threat of the game came in the seventh inning when Erelle Sowers drew a walk and worked her way to third base, but the Lions could not bring her home. The game went into extra innings where the international tiebreaker rule came into effect placing a run on second base to start each half inning. The Lions would successfully move that runner to third in each of the three extra innings, but could not bring in the go-ahead run. The Spartans would eventually execute a suicide squeeze in the 10th inning to pick up the victory.

The Lions offense struck in the first inning of game two, giving Harrisburg an early advantage. Erelle Sowers led the game off with a double right center field. Katie Humphrey then reached on a fielding error. Dominique Emmett would follow with a single up the middle, scoring Sowers. Nina Bruno would then drive a ball toward second base, allowing Humphrey to score. The Spartans offense would then respond, taking control of the contest.
