Evans Records 5 Hits In Double Header

Harrisburg, PA. – Penn State Harrisburg fell to Stevenson University in double header action, despite several strong individual efforts. Kristen recorded five hits on the day, including going 3-3 in game two. Allison Hartman added 4 hits and Carlee Gochenaur and Katie Humphrey each recorded three hits.

How it Happened:

The Lions got off to a strong start in game one, scoring in the first inning. After Katie Humphrey singled and Dominique Emmett got hit by a pitch, Nina Bruno doubled to right field giving the Lions the lead. The Blue & White struck again in the second inning. Allison Hartman singled and worked her way into scoring position for Humphrey who singled to drive in the run. In the fourth inning, an Erelle Sowers double move runners into scoring position for Humphrey, who hit a sacrifice fly to drive in the games third run.

 

Allison Hartman pitched well for the Lions, keeping the Mustangs from having any baserunners in the first four innings. On the day Hartman struck out five while holding Stevenson to eight hits. Nicole Ditzler would come on in relief to close out the seventh inning.

 

After the Mustangs rallied back in the fifth and sixth innings, the Lions found themselves down by three. In the sixth inning, Sowers and Humphrey singled and Emily Parmer walked to load the bases. Dominique Emmett delivered a single to score Sowers and Humphrey would score on a wild pitch, cutting the deficit to one. The Lions would be unable to complete the rally falling 6-5.

 

In game two, Stevenson struck first, taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. The Lions answered in the bottom of the inning. Sowers got hit by a pitch and then worked herself into scoring position for Emmett who singled to drive her in.

 

Sowers had a strong performance on the mound keep the Mustangs in check for most of the game. Emma Lerchen would come on in relief and close out the game.

 

Kristen Evans led the offense going 3-3 and while the Lions consistently had runners on base, they struggled to score runs falling 6-1.
