How it Happened:

Erelle Sowers sparked the offense crushing an inside the park home run to right field, giving the Lions their first lead of the game in the fourth inning. The Mavericks would answer retaking the lead in the fifth inning. The Lions would put multiple runners on base but could not answer, falling 4-2.

The Lions would reset for game two against Chatham College, and once again found themselves behind by three runs entering the bottom of the fourth inning. Allison Hartman would spark the rally reaching base with a line drive to center. After Dominique Emmett singled to move Hartman into scoring position, Jess Roelli drove her in. Hartman would get the offense going again in the fifth inning reaching on a double to left field. Emmett would single to drive her in moments later.

Despite the offensive success, the Lions still found themselves down by two runs entering the seventh inning. Katie Humphrey would reach base on an error and Emily Parmer would load the bases with no outs.
