Penn State Harrisburg swept doubleheader action under the lights in Myrtle Beach on Monday night. The Lions defeated Chatham University 11-0 in four innings and La Roche College 5-0.

The Lions first took on the Chatham University Cougars, and found early success. Senior Kayla Seyfert (Lebanon, Pa/ Cedar Crest) led off the first inning with a single past the second baseman. Seyfert would steal second base and advance to third base on a wild pitch. Senior Amanda Hartman (Fleetwood, Pa/ Oley Valley) hit a hard ground ball driving in the first run of the game.

The Lions offense would alive in the second inning. After a lead off single by Junior Kristin Evans (Harrisburg Pa/ Dauphin County Technical), Sophomore Carlee Gochenaur (Harrisburg, Pa/ Central Dauphin) drove in the games second run. Senior Jenna Rupakus (New Milford, Pa/ Blue Ridge) added a single of her own to drive in Gochenaur. Seyfert would keep the hitting going with her second single of the game to drive in Rupakus. Junior Erelle Sowers (Harleysvilla, Pa/ Souderton Area) crushed a double to right field to put runners into scoring position for Hartman. Hartman drove in two runs with a single through the right side to extend the Lions lead to six.

Penn State Harrisburg would add one more run in the third inning, before the offense would explode again. Sowers lead off the inning with a single past the shortstop and Junior Emily Parmer (Willow Street, Pa/ Solanco) singled up the middle to get the offense going. Hartman added her fourth RBI of the day with a sacrifice fly to right field that drove in Sowers. Evans would then smash a double up the middle to plate two more runs. She would later score to give the Lions 11-0 lead.

On the rubber, Amanda Hartman dominated the Cougars' hitters. Hartman allowed only one hit while striking out three Cougars in four innings of action. Hartman improved to 3-0 as a starter this season with the win.

Penn State Harrisburg took on the La Roche College Red Hawks in the nightcap. Once again the Lions offense found its stride in the first inning. After Seyfert drew a walk and stole second base, Parmer doubled over the left fielders head to drive in Seyfert. Hartman followed that up with a single to left field that drove in Parmer. Later in the inning, Freshman Dominique Emmett (S. Abington Township, Pa/ Abington Heights) would single up the middle, plating Hartman, putting the Lions ahead 3-0.

Penn State Harrisburg struck again in the fifth inning. Rupakus led off the inning with a single and Seyfert reached on a fielder's choice. Parmer would hit behind the runners to the second baseman allowing Rupakus to score. The Lions would add an insurance run in the sixth inning extending the lead to five.

In the circle, Sophomore Alli Hartman (Harrisburg, Pa/ Susquehanna Township) controlled the Red Hawks offensive attack in route to her first career win. Hartman struck out eight Red Hawks batters including five straight from the first to third inning. Hartman would only allow two hits in seven innings of action, helping the Lions to the 6-0 victory.
