Penn state Harrisburg claims first winnings season since 2011

Penn State Harrisburg traveled to Phoenixville Pa, to take on the University of Valley Forge for their last regular season match up of the year. The Lions sweep the Patriots by the scores of 12-0 and 19-1.

In game one, the Lions where led by senior pitcher Gabby Wolfe (New Milford, Pa. / Blue Ridge) who pitched all five innings, striking out nine while only allowing a single hit. The Lions used their big bats to win by a mercy rule in five innings scouring two in the 1st, seven in the 2nd, 2 in the 3rd, and one in the 4th. At the plate the Lions where led by Emily Parmer (Willow Street, Pa. / Solanco) who went two for three with three RBIs while crossing the plate twice. Also having good days at the plate was Jackie Furch (Hallstead, Pa. / Blue Ridge), Erika Love (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin East), and Kayla Seyfert (Lebanon, Pa. / Cedar Crest) who all chipped in with two RBIs apiece.

In game two, the Lions again jumped all over the Patriots, scoring 19 runs while only allowing a single run in the 3rd inning. Harrisburg was again led by a strong pitching performance by starting Amanda Hartman (Reading, Pa. / Oley Valley) who pitched all five innings only allowing a single hit and not allowing an earned run. Kristen Evans (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin) led the Lions at the plate in game two, going two for three and recording four RBIs. Hartman helped her own cause by going four for five with three RBIs of her own while Kate Herr (Kirkwood, Pa. / Solanco), Jasmine Yanich (Harrisburg, Pa. / Susquehanna Township), and Erelle Sowers (Harleysville, Pa. / Souderton Area) all chipped in with two RBIs of their own.

After ending the regular season the Lions will wait until Monday May 4th, to see if their season was good enough to get an ECAC bid.
