Bobcats Take Two at Penn State Harrisburg

Middletown, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg welcomed conference foe Frostburg State to town Saturday April 4th.  Unfortunately, the Blue and White fell victim to the high powered offense of the Bobcats and were swept at home 11-2 and 9-0.

In game one, Frostburg struck first scoring one run in the top of the first. The Lions were not fazed by the quick start as they answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the first off a Rieley Loch (Madison Township, Pa. / North Pocono) double that sent Keriann Saich (Hershey, Pa. / Hershey) home.  The Bobcats added another two runs in the top of the second, and again Harrisburg responded with a run to keep the game close.  A fourth run in the top of the third and a huge four run inning in the top of the fifth blew the game open for the visitors.  Frostburg added three runs in the six inning to walk away with an 11-2 victory in six innings.

The scoring barrage continued into game two for the Bobcats.  The visitors started game two with three runs in the opening inning, followed by four more in the top of the second.  Harrisburg struggled to put together any sort of offensive momentum and were not able to slow down the bats of Frostburg.  The Bobcats added another run in the third and a solo home run in the top of the fourth to build a comfortable 9-0 lead.  Senior Gabrielle Wolfe (New Milford, Pa. / Blue Ridge) did her best to get the Harrisburg bats going in the bottom of the fourth crushing a double to left-center field but The Lions failed to convert her hit into any form of a comeback.  Frostburg State went on to take game two 9-0 in five innings.

Penn State Harrisburg has a small break as they return to action Thursday April 9th, when they travel to Eastern for a double header beginning at 3 p.m.
