Penn State Harrisburg Split before Downpour

Middletown, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg split its double header with Franklin and Marshall on Thursday March 26th.   The Lions took the first game 5-1 before falling in the second 5-3 in just six innings before a downpour ended the game an inning early.

In game one, the Lions jumped out early knocking three runs across in the bottom of the 1st thanks to a big two run homer by Rieley Loch (Madison Township, Pa. / North Pocono). The Blue and White would not look back from there.  Leaning on a strong pitching performance by Amanda Hartman (Reading, Pa. / Oley Valley) who pitched five innings allowing just two hits and one run. The Lions added a few more runs in the bottom of the 5th to take the game one 5-1.

In game two, the Diplomats fought back hard.  After again allowing Harrisburg to score first off an Emily Parmer (Willow Street, Pa. / Solanc) RBI single, F&M regrouped, scoring five runs in the top of the 2nd.  The Lions tried to get back into the game, scoring a run in both of the 5th and 6th innings to bring it with in two.  Unfortunately with the momentum in the Penn State Harrisburg's favor on the field, in the top of the 7th with one out, the skies opened up and the rain ended the game early.  Franklin and Marshall evened the series at 1-1 with a 5-3 win.

The Lions will be in action next this upcoming Saturday March 28th when they take on Wesley at home starting at 1:00 pm.
