Penn State Harrisburg Sweeps CAC Opener

Penn State Harrisburg Softball Swept their Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) opener against Southern Virginia, winning 14-0 and 11-1.

In game one, Penn State Harrisburg shut out the Knights 14-0 behind a strong pitching performance by Gabrielle Wolfe (New Milford, Pa. / Blue Ridge). Wolfe pitched a complete game allowing just one hit and striking out eight. Wolfe was not the only strong performance in game one, as the Lions bats did not disappoint in their CAC opener. With both Kayla Seyfert (Lebanon, Pa. / Cedar Crest) and Wolfe collecting a combined six RBI's while going 5 for 9 with Wolfe adding a homerun.

In game two it was more of the same for the Lions, but this time Amanda Hartman (Reading, Pa. / Oley Valley) led the way on the mound pitching a complete game by striking out three while allowing one earned run.  The Blue and White continued their hot bats right from the get-go scoring 11 runs in the first four innings. With the highlight coming in the top of the 3rd, a two run homerun by Erika Love (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin East). With seven players recording RBI's, the Lions were able to use their entire lineup to help lift them to the win over the Knights.

With Penn State Harrisburg improving their record to 8-2, they will look to keep their streak going this Thursday, March 26th when Franklin and Marshall come to town. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
