Lions Strong from Mound and Plate in Double Header Wins

Myrtle Beach, SC. – Penn State Harrisburg left no doubt who was the stronger team in their double header on Monday March 9, 2015.  The Lions started the day facing off against the SUNY IT Wildcats.  Amanda Hartman (Reading, Pa. / Oley Valley) proved her worth early this season by throwing a three hitter in the team's 9-1 win.

The Lions started strong scoring a run in the first and followed it up with a big four run inning in the second which was capped off by a Rieley Loch (Madison Township, Pa. / North Pocono) triple. SUNY IT earned their first run of the game in the top of the fourth, making the score 5-1.

Harrisburg responded with pure fire power.  Kayla Seyfert (Lebanon, Pa. / Cedar Crest) set the bar for the inning and everyone followed suit.  Her triple was followed up by doubles from Keriann Saich (Hershey, Pa. / Hershey) and Gabrielle Wolfe (New Milford, Pa. / Blue Ridge) to help the Lions to an 11-1 win.  Defensively starting pitcher Hartman made things easy for her team by only allowing 3 hits while striking out six batters in her five inning complete game.

In their second outing of the day, Harrisburg faced off against the Iowa Wesleyan and used the momentum from game one to claim their fourth straight victory 11-3.  The Penn State Harrisburg softball team has one final day at Myrtle and another double header before returning home.  The Lions face off against MacMurray and Mt. Aloysius on Tuesday March 10th
