GRANTHAM, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's men's and women's cross country teams took part in the Messiah College Invitational on Saturday morning, Sept. 28, taking advantage of the opportunity to compete with two of the top programs in the nation.
The men were paced by Kadeem Willis in the 8k event, as the senior crossed the finish line in 33:26 to secure 28th place. Next up was Camilo Ruiz whose time of 35:29 was good enough to secure him a 31st-place finish. Patrick Workman, Charles-Antoine Sokohl and Carlos Rodriguez rounded out the group Blue & White runners.
On the women's side, it was Abagail Marquardt again leading the way for the Lions, as her effort of 31:29 in the 6k event clinched a 27th-place finish. Alyssa Knisley crossed the line less than a minute later and Jameraquai May was close behind. Jennifer Ross and Neeyah Turner completed the team's scoring contingency, while Carly Moore and Destini Richards also represented Penn State Harrisburg in the race.
The event was hosted by Messiah's nationally-ranked women's cross country team and the Falcons' regionally-ranked men's squad on a course designed around the Messiah campus.
The Lions will play host in their next outing, with both programs competing in the annual Bud Smitley Invitational on the campus of Penn State Harrisburg on Saturday morning, Oct. 5. The race is set to being at 10 a.m.
