Middletown, Pa. - The Blue and White men's cross country team ran in their largest event of the year Saturday at the Gettysburg Invitational.  The event  included 281 runners, 26 Schools,  consisting of  DII and DIII programs which helpeed to create a very high paced and talented atmosphere.

Harrisburg was coming off back to back successful outings.  Two weeks prior the Lions won their home invitational and nearly made it two in a row, finishing second at the Lancaster Bible Invitational by the slimmest of margins.  With the group competing out there Saturday, the expectations were not quite as high.  

The Blue and White finished 21st out of the 26 teams competeing.  Their top runner was again freshman Nicholas Sturm (Hamburg, Pa. / Hamburg) who finished 130th overall with his 28:55 8K.  He was followed up by  Joseph Phifer (Union, N.J. / Union) 29:54,  Kyle Klaboe (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin East) 30:30, Edgar Makimoto (Middleburg, Pa. / Selinsgrove Area) 30:32, Tyler Fry (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin East) 30:42,  Adam Campbell (Columbia, Pa. / Hempfield) 31:53, and Jordan Fuhrman (Columbia, Pa. / Hempfield) 32:27 rounded out the team tallies.  

Just missing the team scoring was Junior Tom Chaney (Lancaster, Pa. / Lampeter-Strasburg) who was proud to break under 34 minutes for the first time this season with his 33:51.  Not bad considering he doubles up as a baseball player and carries his 6"3", 230 pound frame throughout each race.  

Justin Clarke a juinior from  Keystone College won the race with his 26:02 while Dickson's Omar Hyjek finished in second with his 26:12 helping to spur his university to the overall team win.  

The Lions now have the race they have been training for all season in front of them, the CAC championships.  Hopefully these young men will have a little more stamina to close out the season in style.
