Clayton, Taylor Shine At 20th Annual Bison Open

Penn State Harrisburg's Men's and Women's Track Teams traveled to Bucknell University take compete against athletes from all levels of collegiate competition. Pushed by the excellent level of their fellow athletes, the Lions earn of their best time and distances of the season.

Jalil Clayton had an incredible day on the track. Clayton would set school records in the 60 Meter Hurdles, 200 Meters, and 400 Meters. Clayton ran a time of 8.27 seconds in the 60 Meters Hurdles that ranks him 10th in all of Division III. Next in the 200 Meters, Clayton posted a time of 22.45 seconds that is good enough for 18th in all of Division III. Finally, he finished the evening with a time of 50.42 seconds placing him 32nd in all of Division III. Clayton won all three events and is ranked first in the CAC in each event as well.    

Ashley Williams improved on her time in the 60 Meter Hurdles winning the event with a time of 9.04 seconds. Williams is ranked 7th in Division III in the event.

Rae Rae Taylor took part in the Women's Indoor Pentathlon competing in the 800 Meter Run, 60 Meter Hurdles, High Jump, Long Jump, and Shot Put. Taylor posted a time of 2:36.70 in the 800 Meter, which is the second fastest time in school history. She would then travel 11.06 meters in the Triple Jump, which was also good enough for second in school history. Taylor would win the event with a score 2898 which is 28th best score so far this season in all of Division III.

Derrick Young took part in the Men's Heptathlon. The Heptathlon includes the 60 Meter Dash, 1000 Meter Run, 60 Meter Hurdles, High Jump, Pole Vault and Shot Put. Young would post his career and CAC best leap in the long jump traveling 6.73 meters. Young would also have a strong showing in the 60 meter dash finishing with a time of 7.19. Young would finish the Heptathlon second with 4583 points. That scores places him 14th in Division III.

The Lions had several other great performances. Alex White finished 6th in the High Jump, clearing 1.97 meters. Sarah Lehman finished 4th in the Triple Jump, traveling 11.16 meters. Finally Cameron Yon placed 9th in the Weight Throw with a toss of 14.77 meters and 11th in the shot put with a throw of 13.23 meters.

Both Track & Field teams will be back in action at the Susquehanna University for the SU challenge on Saturday February 3rd at 10:00 AM.
