Waverly, Iowa - Penn State Harrisburg's men's track and field athlete Cameron Yon (Patuxent River, MD / Great Mills High School) has just established himself as an athlete that will be remembered through the test of time at Harrisburg. Not only did he qualify in the men's discus to participate in the NCAA Championships held in Waverly, Iowa at Wartburg College May 26th, he has now claimed the bronze medal with his longest toss of the day and his career at 53.19m.
As just a freshman, Yon claimed multiple wins at a variety of contest, including a Capital Athletic Conference Championship (CAC) just a few weeks prior. He also took 2nd in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship and of course his most notable third place finish at the NCAA Championships. His third place finish also earned him All-American honors, making him the first Penn State Harrisburg athlete to ever receive this tremendous honor.
This has truly been an exciting year for Yon and the rest of the Penn State Harrisburg track and field team. Until next year…
