Penn State Harrisburg Continues Growth with Track and Field Addition

Middletown, Pa - Penn State Harrisburg has made another step forward in the advancement of its athletic programs with multiple new additions to athletics department in the 2014-2015 academic year.

The Lions now have an indoor and outdoor men's and women's track and field team that will be competing in the 2014- 2015 winter and spring seasons. Originally started as a club team sport, the jump to NCAA competition is not only exciting for the student athletes, but the entire Penn State Harrisburg campus.

Both teams will begin their inaugural seasons Saturday Dec. 6th at the Ursinus College Bow-Tie Classic. The Blue and White will compete in a multitude of events this winter including short and long distance runs, hurdles, jumping, and relays.

When asked about the upcoming season head Coach Danielle Lynch replied "I'm very excited for the opportunity for our athletes to compete in these competitions. We are prepared and ready to represent Harrisburg in our first season. I have told the athletes that they are a part of something special. This will be an exciting season and I cannot wait to see what athletes will qualify for the ECAC and CAC championships."

Lynch is in her second year as head coach for the cross country team and will be starting her first official season as head coach for both the indoor and outdoor track and field teams.  She was an assistant coach at Bucknell University before making the jump to Penn State Harrisburg.

The Lions will be competing in some very prestigious events throughout the indoor and outdoor seasons, including the Bucknell Bison Open this January and the Penn Relays later this spring.
