Men's Tennis Dominates Alvernia at Home

Middletown, Pa.- Last week the Penn State Harrisburg men's tennis team had a difficult match at Goucher. Yesterday afternoon the men came out strong and showed they were ready to play against Alvernia. Harrisburg swept the Crusader's in doubles and only lost one match in single, making the final score 8-1.

Doubles partners, Tyler Cook (Harve de Grace, Md. / Harve de Grace) and James Moore (Lewisburg, Pa. / Lewisburg Area) dominated their opponents with a score of 8-1. Their teammates, Rafael Fernandes (Valinhos, Brazil / Colegio Visconde de Porto Seguro) and Marco Guerrero (Delran, NJ / Deliah) also played well in doubles by winning 8-5.

For the singles portion of the match, Manley Wong (Lancaster, Pa. / Conestoga Valley) dropped the number three spot in a tough match. After splitting sets in the match they were forced into a super tiebreaker instead of a third set. Wong lost in the tiebreaker 11-9. Newcomer Harry Kapenstein (Middletown, Pa. / Middletown High School) gave a strong effort in his singles match by winning both sets. The team as a whole improved their record to 3-1 over all.

The next match up for the men will be on Saturday October 10th when they travel to Susquehanna. The match is set for 1 pm.
