How It Happened

Penn State Harrisburg's run in the 2018 Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Tournament came to a heartbreaking end, as the Blue & White earned a scoreless, double-overtime draw at St. Mary's (Md.) before falling 4-3 in penalty kicks on Saturday afternoon.

The Lions (14-3-4) battled with the #2-seeded Seahawks for 110 minutes, with neither squad able to find the back of the net during regulation or either of the extra sessions. It came down to penalty kicks, where the home team managed to eke out the victory and advance to the next round of the postseason by the slimmest of margins.

Each team converted their first PK attempt, with Joey Aman finding twine for Harrisburg. The Lions' second attempt was unsuccessful but goalkeeper Nicholas Guglielmetti kept the Blue & White in it with a save on SMC's third shot.

Christian Schmoyer and Josiah Malinich answered back-to-back Seahawk conversions by putting their attempts past St. Mary's (Md.) goalkeeper Patrick Paolini on consecutive tries. The home team jumped out in front with a conversion on the fifth try before ending the game with a save on Penn State Harrisburg's final shot.
