Harrisburg Dominates at Home to Remain Unbeaten

Middletown, Pa. - The Penn State Harrisburg men's soccer team is off to a tremendous start to their 2018 season. After a thrilling double-overtime win on Friday September 7th of Neumann, the Lions hosted Gwynedd Mercy on Saturday September 8th.

Harrisburg did not take long to put themselves in the driver seat for the day.  Just four minutes into the first half, the Lions earned a penalty kick that was converted by Freshman Aaron Cummings to take an early 1-0 lead.  A few minutes later, Creasy Lopez found Eric Caldwell who scored what would be the only goal in the run of play for the day.

The Lions truly dominated the entire contest.  Harrisburg held a 23-0 shot advantage and 8-1 corner kick advantage.  To the Griffin's credit, they held the Blue and White men scoreless for almost seventy minutes after starting down 2-0.  The Lions found their third and final goal of the day in the 79th minute again from the PK spot.  Luis Velasco scored his third goal of the season with the strike that found the back of the net.

Harrisburg gets a few days off before traveling for a rivalry match up on Wednesday September 12th against Penn State Berks.  Kickoff is at 4:30 pm.
