Aman Nets Sixth Goal

Harrisburg, Pa. Penn State Harrisburg fell in a heartbreaker to Mary Washington in its final regular season contest. The Lions took an early lead when headed passes from Victor Weaver and Josiah Malinich found the feet of Chase Vilga. After falling behind 2-1, Nnamdi Ikeazor flicked a ball on to Joey Aman who buried the shot in the back of the net leveling the score. Mary Washington would build a 4-2 lead, when the Lions tried to rally late with Christian Schmoyer scoring with a header off a Weaver free kick. The Blue & White could not find another equalizer falling 4-3.

How it Happened:

Penn State Harrisburg would strike first in the 3rd minute after the ball was headed by several Lions including Josiah Malinich and Victor Weaver, eventually allowing Chase Vilga a great shot giving the Lions a 1-0 lead. Mary Washington would score in the 10th and 29th minute building a 2-1 advantage. The Lions battled back with Nnamdi Ikeazor flicking a ball to a hard charging Joey Aman who beat a defender and buried the shot, leveling the score.

Mary Washington would strike in the 51st and 76th minute to rebuild the advantage. The Lions would not quit, as the play became more physical creating several scoring opportunities. The Lions finally struck when a Weaver free kick played into the box found the head of Christian Schmoyer. Schmoyer headed the ball into the back of the net, cutting the Eagles lead to one with just 2:06 left in the game. The Lions would get one more quality opportunity when Justin Elnahrawy ripped a shot from outside the box with only seconds remaining, but the Eagles goalie would deflect it away. With the loss, Harrisburg falls to 4-5 in CAC play.
