Weaver Hat Trick Highlights Impressive Senior Day Win

Middletown Pa, - Senior Victor Weaver helped lead the Lions to an impressive 4-1 win over Marymount University in a Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) match that had serious playoff implications. Weaver scored three times in the contest for his first hat trick of his career.

The Lions knew today's game against the Saints could very well mean the difference between making the playoffs or having their hopes taken with just one regular season game to follow. Harrisburg started strong scoring in the 7th minute thanks to a Chase Vilga assist that set up his fellow senior Weaver.  Although dominating early play, a mishap in the back gave Marymount some hope and momentum as they tied the game at 1- 1 in the 14th minute.

Penn State Harrisburg maintained their composure and responded quickly.  Weaver scored his second of the day with an impressive individual effort, beating two players before striking the ball well from 20 yards out.  Vilga kept pace with his second assist of the day two minutes later to take a 3-1 lead.  Ethan Hoover scored a screamer from just outside the 18 yard box, his strike found the top corner and helped solidify the win for the Lions as they took a 3-1 halftime lead.

Weaver scored the only goal in the second half off a well-placed free kick that found the side panel.  Although his performance stood out in the score line, the Blue and White men truly had a full team effort.  The Lions dominated at every position thanks to their quality passing and impressive defensive work rate all over the field.

The Lions will host #16 Mary Washington on Tuesday for their final CAC regular season match.  A win or a tie will get them into the playoffs.  Without it, they will need Salisbury or Frostburg State to drop points in order to have a spot in the CAC playoffs.  The Eagles and the Lions kickoff Tuesday at 3:00 pm.
