Panuccio Leads Late Surge, Lion's Fall Short to Frostburg

Middletown, Pa.- The Penn State Harrisburg men's soccer team hosted Frostburg State on Saturday October 29th for the first round of Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) playoffs. The visitors jumped to an early 1-0 lead but the Lion's battled back in the final minutes of play to try and tie it up. Frostburg State went on to win 3-2, eliminating Penn State Harrisburg from the tournament.

How it Happened:

-Frostburg State came out strong in the opening minute, getting the first goal of the game only 52 seconds into the match

-After the goal, Penn State Harrisburg began to settle down, recording 4 quality shots in the following 15 minutes

-Both teams remained scoreless for the remainder of the first half

-In the 77th minute of play, the visitors grabbed their second goal as Harrisburg struggled to clear the ball out of the box

-Penn State Harrisburg fought to get on the board less than one minute as Alex Panuccio found the back of the net off a corner kick by the Lion's

-Frostburg State extended their lead to 3-1 in the 78th minute with an easy finish inside the six yard line

-With only two minutes to go in the game Panuccio finished his second goal of the game off of an assist from teammate Nnamdi Ikeazor

-Brandon Hoover recorded two saves in net for Harrisburg

Although Penn State Harrisburg has finished their conference play, they are hopeful to play in the Eastern College Athletic Conference playoffs. The committee with announce on Monday November 7th who has been selected for the tournament.
