Vaz Late Goal Terrorizes McDaniel

Westminster, Md.- After coming off a strong 4-0 performance at home against Albright, Penn State Harrisburg went on the road to play McDaniel on Tuesday September 22nd.  After a valiant effort and two overtime periods, the game ended in a 2-2 tie.

Harrisburg had the first goal of the game in the opening ten minutes from Seth Reynolds (Harleysville, Pa. / Christopher Dock). Sophomore Victor Weaver (Gap, Pa. / Penn Leadership Charter School) crossed the ball into the box for Reynolds who shot it into the goalkeeper. The ball was deflected into the net and put Harrisburg on the board early. Going into the last six minutes of play, Harrisburg was trailing 2-1 but they were not ready to settle for a loss to the Green Terrors. Weaver played a second beautiful ball across the box to Sophomore Mathew Vaz (Stony Brook, NY / Waramelville) who blasted the ball into the right side of the goal, sending the game into overtime. Both teams played hard throughout two overtime periods but neither team could find a third goal for the win.

The men will open conference play on Saturday at Christopher Newport. Game time is scheduled for 7 pm.
