Lions tie Goucher after Double Overtime

Middletown, Pa.- The Penn State Harrisburg men's soccer team battled Goucher this afternoon tiring it up in the last few minutes before sending it to overtime where it ended in a 1-1 draw.

Goucher showed they were ready to play in the first five minutes of the match. Goucher challenged goal keeper Brandon Hoover (Gap, Pa. / Pequea Valley) several times in the first half but he stood strong and kept a zero for the Lions defense going into half time. Within the first ten minutes of the second half, Tate Becker, a Gopher forward, was taken down in the penalty box by the Lions. Becker stepped up to take the kick and slid it past Hoover but this goal sparked a new intensity in Penn State Harrisburg.

For the rest of the second half the Lions spent most of their time in their opponents end. With less than ten minutes to go in regulation Chase Vilga (Mount Joy, Pa. / Donegal) slid the ball past goalie Daniel Hendry to tie the game. Both teams has several scoring opportunities throughout both overtimes but neither team could find the back of the net.

Penn State Harrisburg returns to play on Saturday September 12th at home. The Lions will play Lebanon Valley, kick off is scheduled for 2 pm.
