Hyson Earns NSCAA Scholar All-Region Award

Senior Captain Matthew Hyson was honored for his continued success in the classroom and on the soccer pitch by being named to the Scholar All-Region team from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Matthew is a four year member of the Penn State Harrisburg squad as he joined the team in 2011.  In his sophomore year, Matthew started 15 games and played in 20 where he helped the Lions by scoring a goal and adding 4 assists.  Matthew has played in a total of 33 games in his career.  His work ethic and dedication to his team has earned him the title of captain this season and has helped the lions to their best season in school history.

On top of Soccer, Matt is a standout in the classroom.  His hard work and dedication to his academics have allowed him to earn this prestigious honor.  Hyson is the first athlete in school history to win this award.  Head Coach Seamus Donnelly couldn't be prouder, "Matty has been a class act, both on and off the field, in good times and in times of adversity.  He has battled back from injury to play a key role again for us this season.  One of the nicest people I have ever met, plus one of the fiercest competitors at the same time.  Matty is everything a coach can hope for as a player and as a captain, and we will miss him dearly."

Hyson also received an honorable mention for Scholar All-American.
