Penn State Harrisburg Finish Second Place in ECAC South Regional Championships

Reading, Pa. - The Penn State Harrisburg Men's Soccer team lost a heartbreaker to the Misericordia Cougars by a score of 1-0 in the Eastern College Athletic South Championship Sunday.  The Lions were not able to finish their outstanding season with a championship, but they have nothing to hang their heads over as they complete arguably the best season in program history.

The top seeded Lions and the third seeded Cougars played to a scoreless first half draw.  Misericordia was able to send several shots toward the Lions goal, but goaltender Brandon Hoover (Lancaster, Pa./ Pequea Valley)  did all he could to keep the game tied at zero. The Cougars outshot Harrisburg 7-6 through the first 45 minutes of play.

The Cougars came out firing in the second half and wasted no time jumping on Penn State Harrisburg.  Misericordia's Derek Antonini scored the only goal of the game just 27 seconds into the second half.  The Blue and White did all they could to find the equalizer but the Cougars were able to hold off the Lions second half rally and hang on for the championship.

This year's ride for the Penn State Harrisburg Men's Soccer team has been truly astounding.  They finished with a 14-7-2 overall record, took down multiple nationally ranked teams, finished second in both the regular season and the Capital Athletic Conference playoffs, as well as a second place finish in the ECAC South Championships.

Head Coach Seamus Donnelly took home his first ever conference coach of the year award as well as five men being named to the CAC All-Conference team.  This season has set the bar high for the still young squad, but that is exactly where this program on the rise expects to be.
