Harrisburg Men Blank Marywood 1-0

The Penn State Harrisburg men's Soccer team is looking to regroup after their heartbreaking double overtime loss with Hood College on Saturday with a win at Marywood.  Check out the pregame interview now.

Scranton, Pa. – The Lions were eager to get back into action after their heartbreaking double overtime loss this past Saturday to Hood College.  Thankfully, it did not take long for Harrisburg to bounce back.  An Alex Pannuccio (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Mechanicsburg Area) well placed PK in the 13th minute proved to be the difference in the tight match between the Lions and Pacers.

Following the penalty kick the Pacers searched high and low for the equalizer.  Fortunately, Harrisburg's sophomore goalkeeper Brandon Hoover (Lancaster, Pa. / Pequea Valley) was up for the test.  He saved four shots in the first half when Marywood had most of their push forward and another three in the second half as the play evened out.

Penn State Harrisburg improved their shot total in the second half to seven shots matching Marywood, but overall was outshot 15-9 and had only one corner kick while the home team produced seven.

"It is always a test of character to have to go away immediately after a tough home loss, but it was exactly what we needed.  We have a style of play that requires a lot of belief from every single player and we needed this test today." Head coach Seamus Donnelly continued with, "Marywood was a strong opponent but we did what we had to do.  We are still a work in progress, but this was another step forward today."

The Blue and White will be back at home Sunday when they host the Washington Adventist at 2:00 pm.
