Blue & White Falls to Opposing Lions By Slimmest of Margins

READING, Pa. - On a hot, humid evening, Penn State Harrisburg dropped its third one-goal decision of the young season to Albright by a 2-1 margin.  The Lions lone score of the night came thanks to an own goal by the home team.

Harrisburg started out a little soft allowing the home team a few early chances.  Five minutes in, Albright found the back of the net thanks to a great cross that found an unmarked forward on  the far post for the easy header.  The Blue and White settled down after the first goal and started to play with a little more physicality. Once they added some ball winning effort's to their almost always impressive ball movement, the goal scoring chance was created.

It took John Willingham (Harrisburg, Pa. / Sci-Tech High) to run into and through two Albright defenders to get the Lions on the board.  He battled with them both and did just enough to force the shot off, which then bounced into a defender heading the wrong direction and deflected the ball  into the net to even the score 1-1. Albright responded quickly on a corner kick by using their size to win a strong header for their second goal.

Harrisburg gained some big momentum after Albright had a player ejected from the game for receiving his second yellow card on the day; which gave the Blue and White a man advantage for the final 10 minutes.  This helped them to create a plethora of dangerous chances to tie the game, but unfortunately it was not their day as the final whistle struck and the score was still 2-1 in Albright's favor.

"After a flat first half where the only offensive excitement for us came from an own goal; we came out in the second half with a roar of energy and pressure keeping Albright on their heals until the final buzzer." Assistant coach William Gordon was quoted following today's intense showing.

The men have showed strong technically and tactically for most of the season.  Hopefully Saturday afternoon against Hood College we will get to see the Lions add a physical presence and prove to their home town fans the strength of the squad as a whole.
