Penn State Harrisburg Fall Moments Countdown – No. 6

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Some feats are rare in college sports; triple-doubles, multi-home run games, 50-yard field goals.  Penn State Harrisburg men's soccer player Justin Henderson (Cherry Hill, N.J. / Cherry Hill East) proved up to the challenge of pulling off one such feat when he recorded a hat trick in the Lions 6-0 win over North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) foe Gallaudet on Sep. 15.

Henderson's big day comes in at number six on our list of Penn State Harrisburg's top ten moments of the fall sports season.

It's unclear what was most impressive; the fact that the junior forward scored three goals on the afternoon or the fact that he scored all three within the game's first 23 minutes.

It didn't take Henderson long to get in the scoring act as he netted his first goal from ten yards out off an assist from Alex Belanger (Carlisle, Pa. / Big Spring) just 1:32 into the match.

He gave his team a 2-0 advantage when dribbled into the box and put his shot past the Bison goalkeeper in the game's 19th minute.  Mr. "JT" needed just three more minutes to net his third score of the day.  Tommy Miller (Palmyra, Pa. / Palmyra) made the assist.

As if his goal-scoring prowess wasn't enough, Henderson also added an assist on the team's sixth and final goal of the day, this one scored by Claudius Taylor (Landover, Md. / Hammond).

Henderson's hat trick helped his team pick up the win but it also earned him some individual accolades.  His seven-point made the conference take notice and he was named the NEAC's Student-Athlete of the Week for the time period ending Sep. 16.

The New Jersey native continued to score and score and score as the year went on.  He finished with a team-leading 11 goals.  Thanks to his tremendous 2012, Henderson was named to the NEAC's all-conference third-team list.
