Penn State Harrisburg Earns Four All Conference Awards; Miller wins Rookie of Year

YORK, Pa. - Junior Matt DiSalvo (Great Falls, Va./Langley) and his Christopher Newport teammates combined for eight team and individual records on the way to winning the 2015 Capital Athletic Conference golf championship and earning six awards on the All-CAC squad. DiSalvo, who earned CAC Player of the Year and Tournament medalist honors, tied the James River Country Club (Newport News, Va.) course record with a six-under-par 64 on the first day of the championship, breaking the conference records for lowest single-round score in conference history, in the history of the conference championship and the lowest under-par round in CAC history. He followed with a 69 in Sunday's final round, setting the records for lowest two-round total (133) in CAC and conference championship tournament history.

DiSalvo, a first-team All-CAC player and honorable mention All-American in 2014, carded two of the three sub-par rounds in the championship on the way to becoming the second-straight CNU golfer to win the CAC Player of the Year award. Former CNU teammate Jonathan Howard was the 2014 CAC Player of the Year. Joining DiSalvo on the 2015 CAC post-season team are sophomores Harry Nodwell (Devon, England/Exmouth C.C.), Charlie Peavley (Culpeper, Va./Culpeper County) along with seniors Ryan Pratt (Richmond, Va./Monacan) and Sam Robinson (Norfolk, Va./Granby). Nodwell and Peavley gained first-team All-CAC honors while Pratt and Robinson were second-team honorees. Robinson collected his second-straight all-conference award after being a first-team player in 2014. Jamie Coleman, whose team posted the first sub-600 score in CAC history, captured the conference Coach of the Year award for the second-straight year. Coleman's crew combined for a two-day total of 575 (15 over par) to win the title by 31 strokes. He is the fourth coach since the conference added golf as a championship sport in 2008 to win the Coach of the Year award twice. It was his second Coach of the Year award in his seven seasons at CNU. Penn State Harrisburg finished second in the CAC championship for the second-straight year and gained four spots on the 2015 All-CAC squad.

Freshman Keith Miller (Pittsburgh, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) and sophomore Tyler Shank (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra) both earned first-team All-CAC nods and combined to win the CAC Rookie of the Year award in consecutive years. Shank repeated as a first-team all-star and was the 2014 Rookie of the Year while Miller captured the 2015 Rookie of the Year award. Also representing the Lions on the 2015 All-CAC second team are freshman Collin Hagenbuch (Easton, Pa./ Wilson) and junior Tyler Massar (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest). Penn State Harrisburg golfers have combined for seven All-CAC awards in the program's first two years as members of the Capital Athletic Conference.

York's duo of senior David Boslough (Dalton, Pa./Lackawana Trail) and junior Ryan Wolbach (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) were repeat honorees on the 2015 All-CAC Golf Team. Wolbach gained one of six first-team All-CAC awards this year after collecting a second-team certificate in 2013. Boslough, a four-year participant in the CAC Championship Tournament, gained his third-straight second-team All-CAC nod. The Spartans finished third in the championship for the second-straight year and is the only team in CAC history to finish among the top three teams every year at the conference championship tournament (including winning the titles in 2009 and 2013).

Marymount senior Brad Johnson (Alexandria, Va./Hayfield) also earned second-team All-CAC recognition for the second time in his career. Johnson extends MU's streak of at least one All-CAC award every year since 2009. New Jersey City senior Frank Rivera (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne) was named the 2015 winner of the Andrew Geyer Memorial Scholar-Athlete Award. The award, presented by Wesley College in honor of former Wolverine standout Andrew Geyer, recognizes a CAC golfer annually for "outstanding academic credentials, athletics, citizenship and community service." Rivera, the top golfer for the Gothic Knights in the 2015 CAC Championship and the only member of the team to compete in the championship both years NJCU has been a member of the conference, is an economics major with a 3.60 grad point average who plans to attend grad school for an advanced business degree following commencement. Rivera is also a U.S. Air Force veteran who served his country with tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan.
