Lions Earn Top Ten Finish at Muhlenburg Invitational

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – In the team's fifth outing of the fall, Penn State Harrisburg picked up its third top ten finish.  The Lions shot a +54, 334 and placed ninth out of 17 teams at the Muhlenburg Invitational held at the Lehigh Country Club on Monday afternoon, Sep. 30, topping the likes of Ursinus and Lebanon Valley.  A familiar foe in former North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) rival Rutgers-Camden won the team championship by shooting a +30, 310 while the Scarlet Raptors' Pete D'Angelo topped the individual ranking with a +2, 72.

The top Blue & White finisher was Tyler Shank (Palmyra, Pa. / Palmyra Area).  The freshman shot a +10, 80 and took home a share of 17th place overall.  Sophomore Tyler Serres (Camp Hill, Pa. / Trinity) was the team's next best finisher.  His +12, 82 was good enough to earn him a share of 29th, individually.

Senior Corey Jackson (Levitown, Pa. / Neshaminy) turned in one of his best performances of the fall by shooting a +15, 85 and tying for 43rd place.  Fellow senior Jason Long (Rockhill Furnace, Pa. / Southern Huntingdon County) took home a share of 52nd place by shooting a +17, 87 and freshman Matthew Hoare (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) rounded out Penn State Harrisburg's scorecard by turning in a +19, 89 and earning a share of 57th place.

The Lions' performance Monday afternoon came in the squad's penultimate outing of 2013.  Penn State Harrisburg will take the links for the final time this fall when the team takes part in the ECAC Mid-Atlantic Championship Invitational at Blue Heron Hill Country Club on Saturday, Oct. 5 and Sunday, Oct. 6.
