Long's Stellar Week Earns Him NEAC Honors

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – Penn State Harrisburg's spring season is little more than a week old.  The short timeframe didn't keep the Lions' Jason Long (Rockhill Furnace, Pa. / Southern Huntingdon County) from making a big impression.  Long turned in a pair of strong performances in the team's first two outings of 2013 and was named the North Eastern Athletic Conference's (NEAC) Golf Student-Athlete of the Week for his efforts.

The junior began the spring portion of the schedule by shooting a plus-four, 76 and earning a share of the individual championship at Lebanon Valley's Spring Invitational at Lebanon Country Club on Monday, Apr. 1.  His performance helped lead the Blue & White to a fourth place finish out of 17 participating schools.

Long followed it up by finishing tied for seventh individually at Elizabethtown's Spring Blue Jay Classic, held at the Hershey Links, thanks to his score of plus-three, 75 three days later.  As a team, Penn State Harrisburg finished tied for seventh out of 16 total participants.

This week's Student-Athlete of the Week accolade is Long's second of the 2012-13 campaign.  He will look to continue his strong play when the Lions next hit the links on Friday, Apr. 12 at Rutgers-Camden's Spring Invitational.
