GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – It was announced on Monday, Oct. 9 that Penn State Harrisburg golfer Jason Long (Rockhill Furnace, Pa. / Southern Huntingdon County) had been named the North Eastern Athletic Conference's (NEAC) Golf Student-Athlete of the Week for the time period ending Sunday, Oct. 7.
The junior had a career week and helped lead the Lions to two ninth-place finishes on Thursday, Oct. 4 and over the weekend. Long shot a +4 75 at Elizabethtown College's Blue Jay Classic, good enough to earn him a share of third place overall. He followed it up with another stellar outing at McDaniel College's Mason-Dixon Collegiate Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 6 and Sunday, Oct. 7. Long shot a two-day total of 154 and finished tied for sixth place individually.
In the absence of reigning NEAC Player of the Year Matt Plummer (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley), Long stepped up in a big way and was the blue and white's top finisher at both events this past week.
