Plummer Sets School Record at Penn State Harrisburg Invitational

HARRISBURG, Pa. - The Penn State Harrisburg golf team's 2012 season is in full swing and the player who is leading this charge for the blue and white is sophomore Matt Plummer (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley).  The CV grad has had some great finishes in his first three tournaments of the season, including a second place overall finish at the Messiah Invitational that earned him North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Student-Athlete of the Week honors.  But none compare to what he pulled off on Friday, Sep. 21.

Numerous Penn State Harrisburg players have earned the honor of NEAC Player of the Week but what Plummer did in his first round of play at this weekend's annual Penn State Harrisburg Fall Invitational makes him stand out from the rest.  Plummer shot a one under -71 and set the Penn State Harrisburg individual school record.  His stellar play helped lead the Lions to a sixth place finish out of 15 teams in the blue and white's namesake two-day tournament that ended its final round on Saturday, Sep. 22.

The sixth place finish comes following a third and second place finish at tournaments hosted by Messiah and Franklin & Marshall and despite not recording a season best overall score, the two-time defending NEAC champions continue to show signs that foreshadow a three-peat.

C.J Foust (Palmyra, Pa. / Palmyra) had his best finish of the season amongst Penn State Harrisburg's top five and newcomer Jason Long (Rockhill Furnace, Pa. / Southern Huntingdon County) continued to impress.
