Men’s Basketball Team Struggles offensively in Hard Fought Loss to No. 12 Salisbury

Salisbury, MD—Kahlil Williams scored a double-double in his return to the rotation, but the Lions fell to the Salisbury Sea Gulls on Wednesday night for their second straight loss.  Williams' 15 points and 11 rebounds were not enough to overcome the nationally ranked defense.  Khalil White also made his return after a one-game absence to lead the Lions with 17 points.

Penn State Harrisburg: (9-13, 6-9 CAC)

Salisbury: (18-4, 12-2 CAC)

How it Happened:

-The Lions missed their first six shots of the game, but finally got on the board on a soft layup by Alliyu. Salisbury also struggled in the first couple of minutes to get going, missing three 3pt. shot attempts in the first three minutes.

-A 6-0 run about 5 minutes in gave Penn State Harrisburg what would become their largest lead of the game at 15-10

-The first half was a tight contest, with each team going cold and hot offensively at around the same time.  From the 7:20 to the 3:15 mark, both teams combined to score 6 points.

-The Lions struggled to get anything going offensively from the perimeter in the first half, going only 1-12 from 3pt. range.

-Penn State Harrisburg came out of the locker room with some more energy and was able to keep pace with Salisbury for the early going in the second half.

-Trailing by 12 at the 9:33 mark, the Lions began to create some good looks that led to a 7-0 outburst that brought the contest back within five.

-Salisbury's talented starting five proved too much for Penn State Harrisburg in the final 10 minutes.  Defensively, the Sea Gulls are one of the toughest teams the Lions have had to face this season, allowing fewer than 63 point per game during conference play this season.

-Salisbury is currently rank no. 12 nationally in D-III men's basketball.

Playoff Picture:

-With the loss, Penn State Harrisburg falls out of the playoff picture for the time being, sitting at seventh .  St. Mary's holds the same conference record, but sit in sixth due to a better overall record.  Salisbury still sits a game behind third ranked Christopher Newport for the stop seat in the CAC.
