Penn St. Harrisburg Men's Basketball Player Travels to South Africa

MIDDLETOWN, PA- This past summer, Anthony Morgan partnered with Ten Days, an organization corporately located in Nashville, Tennessee and traveled abroad on a mission trip to Africa for 10 days.

The purpose of this mission was to do outreach in Cape Town, South Africa through various projects while spreading the gospel music genre.  While in Africa, Morgan completed various projects like partnering with Thembalista & His People church both located in Cape Town, South Africa. Together, they fixed up education facilities in one of Cape Town's most poverties townships. He also participated in outreach events including putting together a soccer tournament at a local high school and visiting students on the campus of the University of Cape Town.

"My personal goal on the trip was to make an impact in the country while strengthening my relationship with God. Little did I know that the country would actually change me," said Morgan. Morgan is very appreciative of his opportunity to travel abroad and embrace different cultures while serving the community. "I am still processing the life changing experience and adjusting to life back in the states. I can't thank God enough for the blessings he has bestowed in my life," said Morgan.

"My favorite moment in the entire trip was being able to visit the cell of Nelson Mandela," said Morgan."The trip left a lifelong impact that will honestly change my life forever. I appreciate the diverse culture we have in the United States, but it makes me more humble after being in a completely different country not knowing anyone," said Morgan after returning from his trip.

Originally from York, Pennsylvania, Morgan transferred to Penn State Harrisburg from McDaniel College this past January. He is currently studying political science and plans to graduate in fall 2016. Morgan is also a member of the Penn State Harrisburg men's basketball team serving as a forward.

Donald Friday, head coach of the men's basketball team quoted Morgan as one of the team's leading contributions, "Anthony is one of our leading contributors this upcoming season.  I've been very impressed with Anthony's leadership and commitment to the greater good of Penn State University." The men's basketball team will play their first game of the season on Saturday, November 14th. Penn State Harrisburg is hosting their annual Tip-Off Tournment where they will play Lebanon Valley and Rutgers-Camden.
