Jones Reaches 1,000 Point Milestone

MIDDLETOWN, Pa- Penn State Harrisburg junior Steve Jones (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg) joined an exclusive club when he scored his 1,000th career-point on Wednesday night, Feb. 15. Coming into the Lions' game against Penn State Berks, the versatile guard needed 23 points to reach the remarkable milestone. He netted 26.

Jones made school-history when he became just the third Penn State Harrisburg player to reach the impressive mark. The Harrisburg grad is also just the second Lion to score all of his points in NCAA play. He joins all-time leading scorer and teammate Kenton Alston (Harrisburg, PA/Steel-High) and Abe Hitz (Annville-Cleona/Annville PA), the team's first 1,000 point-scorer, in the program's rarified air.

Unfortunately, Jones' big night came in an 88-83 loss to the hosts at Berks. The defeat was just Penn State Harrisburg's second of the season in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play. The Lions now sit at 18-6 overall with their regular season finale taking place this Sunday at Penn State Abington.

Jones, the team's leading scorer, is averaging 16.6 points per game this season and has all of next year to add to his career-point total. He's also been stout on defense as he currently leads the nation in steals with an incredible 4.3 swipes per contest average.
