Jones Picks Up His Second Conference Honor

MIDDLETOWN, Pa - For the second time in just three weeks, Penn State Harrisburg junior Steve Jones (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg) has been named the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) men's basketball Co-Student Athlete of the Week for the time period ending Sunday, Jan. 15. The versatile guard has had an outstanding season, evidenced by the fact that he recently earned the accolade for the first time just 14 days ago.

The Harrisburg alum put up stellar numbers this week despite only averaging slightly more than 20 minutes per game. He was the leading scorer in the Lions' 93-49 win over Penn College on Tuesday, Jan. 10, netting 27 points and grabbing seven steals in just 13 minutes of playing time.

Jones was also crucial in the blue and white's 69-66 victory over conference rival Wells on Saturday, Jan. 14. He dropped 16 on the Express and gathered in seven rebounds to go along with his five steals. The ex-Cougar capped off the weekend by pouring in 24 points and collecting a team-high eight rebounds during Penn State Harrisburg's 92-68 win over Keuka the next day.

In NCAA Division III play, Jones currently leads the nation in steals per game with an impressive 4.5 average. He also leads the Lions in scoring, averaging 16.1 points per contest.
