MIDDLETOWN, Pa.- The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced today that Penn State Harrisburg junior guard Steve Jones (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg) and senior forward Kenton Alston (Harrisburg, PA/Steel-High) have been named first-team all-conference selections for their outstanding play during the 2011-2012 season.

Jones received the second highest vote total of any player.  Only Morrisville State's Mickey Davis (Syracuse, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt), who was named NEAC Player of the Year, received more votes.  The ex-Cougar leads the team with a strong 16.8 points per game scoring average (third best in-conference) and recently reached an impressive career milestone when he netted his 1,000th career point on Feb. 15; joining Alston as one of only three players in school-history to achieve such a feat.  Jones is also the Lions' second leading rebounder with a 6.2 boards per contest average.  Penn State Harrisburg's "man of steal," he currently leads the nation in swipes per game with an impressive 4.3 average.

Alston, the team's senior captain, received the fourth highest total of all vote-getters.  The Steel-High grad trails only Jones in the blue and white's points per game category with a 13.0 average.  He's also the Lions' leading rebounder, bringing in an impressive 6.4 boards per outing, a number that ranks him tenth in the NEAC.  Alston leads the conference in blocked shots per game with a 2.8 rejections per contest average, good enough for ninth best in the nation.  Proving how consistently great a player he's been during his time at Penn State Harrisburg, this is the third year in a row that Alston's been named to the NEAC's all-conference first-team.
