Lions Claw Back to Earn Big Conference Victory

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - The Penn State Harrisburg Nittany Lions went on a late 24-4 run to beat Gallaudet University, 82-78. The Nittany Lions victory spoiled the Bison's perfect conference record. Jordan Gatchell (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central) had a game high 22 points for the Nittany Lions.

The Lions jumped out to a quick start leading by as many as 10 early in the first half. Kenton Alston (Harrisburg, PA/Steel High) led the way scoring 14 points before getting into foul trouble. Gallaudet and Penn State Harrisburg entered the break tied, 34-34.

Sophomore Kenny Stone (Philadelphia, PA/Scotland School) had a break out performance, scoring 15 of his 19 points late in the second half. Stone shot an impressive 7-10 from the field.

Gallaudet jumped out to a 10 point lead just five minutes into the second half and led most of the way. Two Gatchell free throws put the Lions back on top with under four minutes remaining. Nick Liddell (Lewisberry, PA/Red Land) took advantage of a Bison turnover and hit a trifecta the next possession, giving the Lions an eight point lead. Gallaudet couldn't regain the lead as the Lions grabbed their third conference win of the season.

The Bison had five players in double figures with Tony Tatum leading all scorers with 21 points.

The Nittany Lions will return to the court on December 28, 2010 for the Land of Magic Tournament in Daytona, FL to face Embry-Riddle University at 3:00PM.
