Penn State Harrisburg Bests Keuka, Will Host NEAC Tourney

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Prior to Sunday's tip-off senior Shane Woodman (Marietta, PA/Donegal) was honored as the Nittany Lion's lone senior. Woodman has assisted in taking Penn State Harrisburg from a last place team to a NEAC championship contention team. The Lions proved their potential Sunday afternoon by sneaking out a win over a talented Keuka squad, 68-65.

Sunday's NEAC contest was a game of momentum changes. Keuka started the game with momentum as they opened the game with a 7-1 lead. The Lions responded with three consecutive three-pointers to bring the game within one with 9:44 remaining in the half. The momentum changed yet again as several offensive fouls were charged to the Nittany Lions to give the Storm extra offensive possessions. Kenton Alston paced the Nittany Lions in the first half with 10 points.

Keuka led until the 4:46 minute mark when Kenny Stone (Philadelphia, PA/Scotland) hit two free throws to put the Lions up by one. The Storm regained the lead the next possession after Putter Brown laid in one of his 21 points. Nick Liddell (Lewisberry, PA/Red Land) hit a huge three-pointer with 1:09 to go  to give the Lions a two-point advantage. The next possession Keuka missed a layup giving Penn State Harrisburg the opportunity to seal the deal. Liddell hit 1-of-2 free throw to give the Lions the 3-point advantage. Keuka's dismal free-throw shooting helped Penn State Harrisburg nail down the final regular season game.

Stone contributed 16 points, shooting an impress 8-for-8 from the charity stripe. Liddell finished with 12 and David Reisinger (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin East) added 10 points and 4 rebounds.

The Nittany Lions have earned the right to host the 2011 NEAC men's basketball championship tournament. The tournament will begin on Friday, February 25. Please visit our website, Facebook or Twitter for more details!
